Rheem RTG-64XLN 6.4 GPM Low NOx Outdoor Tankless Natural Gas Water heater Reviews
Very good product. Would buy again.
I had an older, very simple tankless water heater and it was crap. Huge cold water sandwich. Constant temperature variation. Solid cold water if you aren't drawing enough from the hot side. What a piece of crap.So on faith I ordered this one also based on reviews. It's great. No cold water sandwich. I can even shut the shower off while sudsing up, then return the handle to the same position to rinse, and there's no variation in temperature at all.
Saved me from buying and installing a thermostatic shower valve. So far I can't distinguish the performance of this tankless heater from a tank type heater, and that's the true test.
Do all the comparison shopping you want , but I predict you will return to this one. And the price is right.

When its done right, works well
I got this dude to replace a 50 gal massive water heater that is minutes away from dumping 3 oceans of water on my new hardwood floors (or so my wife thinks). I didn't want to deal with installing the crazy expensive vent pipes through my attic and roof so I decided to put it outside. I chose a spot right next to the bathroom since one common complaint is the time it takes to get the hot water to the faucet with these tankless heaters. After getting all the water lines moved, gas hooked up, and electrical ran to the unit I cranked the thermostat to 120 and jumped in the shower. I was met
with glorious hot water...for 30 seconds then succumbed to the icey frigid water sent from the depths of the Arctic.
Frustrated and cold since it was around 35 degrees outside, I dry off and go outside to see what the heck is happening.
Long story short, I had put a Rubbermaid cabinet around the unit and up against my house to block the unit from the
Colorado mountain elements and keep the pipes from freezing. When the heater turns on it puts out a fair amount of exhaust which filled the cabinet, leaving no oxygen to the flame which turned the burner off and left me frozen and alone. I took the cabinet doors off leaving the sides, roof, and floor to keep the rain/snow/wind off of it best I could and now it works like a dream. Would highly recommend. Super simple to set up as long as you give it enough vent space
